This research programme aims to evaluate existing analytical techniques and advance new methods and tools for monitoring and assessing regional integration processes worldwide.  Specifically, it consists in developing appropriate tools for retrospective measurements and prospective foresight of regional integration processes. Based on the conviction that monitoring can importantly contribute to enhancing the quality of regional governance, monitoring tools are also designed as part of this programme. 

The delivery of monitoring services for the academic and policy-making communities is achieved through the development and maintenance of the web-based portal RIKS and through the publication of the World Report on Regional Integration.
