UNU-CRIS and the University of Warwick organise a Workshop on Regional Governance and Global Crises, University of Warwick, 18-19 June 2012

UNU-CRIS and the University of Warwick organise a Workshop on Regional Governance and Global Crises at the University of Warwick in the framework of GR:EEN on 18-19 June 2012.

This two-day workshop seeks to bring together scholars and practitioners working on regional and global governance and the relations between them. The workshop is especially concerned with the role and legitimacy of regional governance in the emerging multi-polar world. 2011 has been a year of crises for the global political economy. We face the worst global economic downturn since the Great Depression. And, with the exception of the European Union, the debate on these crises has focused mostly on national and international actions. Yet, the crisis presents unique challenges to regions and regionalism. Thus, the workshop aims to address (i) the relationship between regional governance and global events; (ii) the impact of the crises on regional governance; (iii) and the importance and increasing emergence of regional interactions in global politics.
