UNU-CRIS and International IDEA organise a Roundtable: Learning from the European Parliament: Democracy Building in the Regional Context, Brussels, 14 October 2013

The Office of the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance to the European Union (International IDEA) and UNU-CRIS have the pleasure to invite you to participate in a Roundtable on “Democracy Building in the Regional Context: Learning from the European Parliament”, which will take place at the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), Room TRE 7701, 7th Floor, Trèves building, 74 Tue de Trèves, 1040 Brussels from 1430-1700 on Monday, 14 October 2013.

International IDEA and UNU-CRIS will share comparative research that examines the democratic capacities of International Parliamentary Institutions (IPIs), and the way they perform as vectors of democratisation. The research aims to address a number of questions and to produce tangible policy recommendations for enhancing the democratic performance of IPIs. The objective of the roundtable is to exchange views on the research, share perspectives and further enhance the various policy recommendations.  In addition, the participants will be invited to make concrete suggestions on how the findings could be exploited by academia, practitioners, policy-makers and experts.
